Historic warehouse. Exceptional value.

Hartman Storage is the oldest storage facility in Central Pennsylvania. Our warehouse was built in 1901 by Highspire Whiskey to store 13,500 whiskey barrels. In 1918, Highspire Whiskey placed their first ad in the Harrisburg Telegraph offering storage to the public. An Otis elevator was installed in 1924 for automobiles that we still use today. In 1942, John A. Hartman purchased the storage warehouse, the Hartman Storage sign was painted over the old Highspire Distillery sign seen in this photo, and the rest is history. When viewed in the daylight from the south, the Distillery letters can be seen bleeding through. We're proud to carry on its legacy of providing what we believe is the best value for storage in Central Pennsylvania.

Hartman Storage does not use automated revenue-management rent increases.

Why don’t some competitors’ low move-in rates stay low?

Revenue management uses pricing adjustments to increase revenue. In storage, this can include very low advertised rates for new customers followed by higher rent after move-in. Once your belongings are stored, moving again takes time, transportation, and help, making switching facilities costly and inconvenient.

Compare the standard monthly rate, how long any introductory discount lasts, and whether the standard rate is guaranteed.

Extra Space Storage’s 2025 annual report states that its revenue-management systems analyze, set, and adjust rental rates daily across its portfolio. This describes portfolio pricing adjustments, not daily increases to each tenant’s rent.

A June 2013 industry article reported that approximately 50,000 Extra Space Storage customers per month received a 9% rent increase across the company.
